Sitting at an altitude of 2450 mts, 50 kms north of Kupwara in Kashmir this unassuming picturesque Valley of Machil translating to *fish* comprises of a cluster of villages along the LOC. The “Sanctum Trust ” The Signia clearly depicts the Thrust Area and type of services what Sanctum will do the needy people who are in extreme temperature zones.
Speaking the beautiful Pashto and Pahadi dialects one recalls stories of Border Shelling, Gun Battles amidst the breathtakingly beautiful apple orchards, Milk hamlets and Farms.
The Army and Civilians coexist in this region to help each other wager the harsh scenario over here.
Weather and Medical conditions while protecting our borders and keeping us safe and secure in our homes. We understood that Army helps the civilians in vulnerable zone for their welfare more than the local bodies. And the local leaders are also dependent from Army Personnel.
When a group of Voulenteers initiated the Frontier literacy Project little did they envisage the impact of their services in this "fish" valley .
Sharing a synopsis of their journey in the last few months since inception.
Envisioned by Mr Sridhar our Founder of Sanctum, which is Health, Literacy and Economic Upliftment which culminates into Peace and Conflict Resolution in Vulnerable zone of LOC.(line of control)
We have signed various MOUs with Indian Army who toil to keep all our Citizens safe, healthy and develop them even for their economy in frontier zones, a happy place to live in Kashmir Valley/ Leh and Ladak.
Three Voulenterrs visited and distributed Laptops, Batteries, Inverters, Stationary, Sanitizers, Digital Thermometers etc. A Team of highly experienced Doctors have gone to villages around Macchal, Khupwara district, Kashmir. to train their Medical team to handle the Midwifery services during harsh climatic conditions where many mothers die along with the still born.
- MOU's signed between IndianArmy and Sanctum
- More loc regions to be covered in Leh, ladakh, Ghalwan valley, Drass in Kargil to extend similar benefits in terms of health, economy and educational improvement.
- A pressing concern in the area of medical emergency arises during the months of January to March where due to heavy snowfall and slow transportation there are delays in surgeries causing still births.
- A well equipped medical team (Paramedics, Nurses)if deployed temporarily can help in performing C- sections and hence prevent trauma at critical times.
- The sensitisation through education makes them aware of our government's initiatives and instills in them a sense of patriotism and help fight terrorism at its roots.
How can individuals and corporate participate?
The valley offers homestays at very affordable rates.
By spending our holidays with them we learn about our Army’s dedicated services at the LOC, their operations and also the nuances of Pahadi life and the economic support prevents them from being influenced by terror infiltrating groups .
A student from the Army public school when asked how he felt about the laptops gratefully replied saying they felt blessed to be included in the digital world.
Let us join hands and contribute /donate and have more such young children become literate and by doing so build a peaceful awakened generation for the future.
A impact study as reported by Maj. Jaganathan
Hello Rtn.Sridhar
Thanks for the 50 laptop which you had given in the month of Oct 2021. We took 5 laptops for Army purpose to utilize it in forward post along the line of control.
On 14 NOV 2021 one of our boy suffered a HAPO and was in immediate requirement of medical attention. Helicopter could not come due to bad wx condition in our area. But patient was in need of urgent medical treatment. We decided to used the laptop provided by rotary club with civil mobile data and connected to our doctor present in Battalion HQ. Through this laptop doctor was able to guide the nursing assistant present there and provided valuable treatment to this patient present in forward post. He was latter evacuated by helicopter to nearest military hospital. The patient survived and is now stable. If not for this laptop, it would have been very difficult for us to save this Jawan’s life. Thanks for the laptop you guys donated.
